It has collectors value as it is a rare black badge limited edition version. The badges were issued, just for one month's production, on new Lotus cars as a sign of mourning, hence the black colour, after the death of Double World Champion Jim Clark who was killed in April of 1968, at Hockenheim, Germany, while driving a Lotus Type 48 in a Formula 2 race.
The bodyshell is the original 'pure' Europa design just before safety legislative specifications in Briton forced Lotus to alter the headlamp surrounds and the back side fins to improve rearview visibility but at a cost to the overall streamlined shape of the car. The same happened with the E-Type Jaguar of the same era.
The condition of the car is not the result of a restoration project but is as bought new and kept garaged and looked after by its one and present owner.
