Classic Cars For Sale: 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL.

Bridge Classic Cars are proud to introduce our incredibly rare car, very original and award winning Mercedes 190 SL.

First registered on 11th November 1957 and purchased for the sum of £1957.00 by Violet Dorothy Mills, part of the Bertram Mills Circus family who’s residence in Knightsbridge is still present on the original registration book. The 3 BUR number has been present on the car from the very early days and was associated with the Bertram Mills family.

The car is an original right hand drive, matching number example and having covered just 49,000 genuine, documented miles from new, the car comes with a huge file of history, original documentation, ownership family-tree, newspaper clippings, awards, MOT’s, service files, receipts and as we all love with a classic car, a beautiful story of the few owners she’s had.

The original hardtop which came as an optional extra at the time of production, the original radio and even the original clock mechanism in the glove box is all still present with the car and experts have confirmed that all of these are rare to find on a 190SL nowadays.

Since being with us, the car has undergone a full engine rebuild by our in-house engine department, the works carried out are as follows: re-face head, fit new timing chain and guide rails, polished crankshaft at journals, re-bore engine to suit new pistons, re-face cylinder block, manufactured a new billet bespoke Flywheel, fit new clutch, gaskets, bearings and seals, removed the carburettors to carry out an ultra-sonic clean, fitted new rubbers between the carburettor and manifold.

If you are looking for a newly built, newly restored, concours car then this is not the one for you. This beautiful example comes un-restored, un-touched and very original. Yes, like many classics (and modern cars even) it has had paint at some time in it’s life but the car’s age and beauty has been preserved wonderfully and it’s rarity in this form makes this a fantastic investment opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
