Commentaires du vendeur sur 1959' Mercedes-Benz 220 S
A beautifull Crimson red mid 2000's restoration. This car was restored in the area of Delaware by Lee Slaughter of Rehoboth Beach. This company did an excellent job, helped by the fact the car was originally an Arizona dry state car with no rust ! I purchased the car in the Netherlands a few years ago, the previous owner having bought it in Scotsdale Arizona. All taxes paid. I traced the last owner on the Title, who wrote a letter to me stating he owned the car for a number of years and intended to use it in classic competitions, so installed a 2500cc engine from a "67"250S to give the car a bit more power. This helps it keep up with modern traffic and has a five bearing crankshaft, not a three bearing as on the original two litre engine. He spent approx $10,000 with a local Mercedes dealer on brakes, drums, wheel cylinders, dynamo, starter motor, clutch etc, all less to replace. He decided eventually that the car was too good to race and abuse, so here it survives today. He also claims that before he owned it ,it was once part of the Du Pont family collection, which fits in with the area of Delaware. The car starts well and drives well, interior was restored at the same time as the body. There has been at least 10 years for any rust to break out on the panels, but there is non, with only surface rust underneath, not caked with under seal to hide anything. I need the space for new projects, so the car is for sale ! I've never driven it in the rain or on salted roads, it's sitting in a dry garage with a cover over it waiting for a new owner.
