1952 MGTD 1250 SPORTS CONVERTIBLE TOURER
Most attractively finished with maroon coachwork and beige leather trim and double duck mohair hood also finished in beige. This numbers matching MG has benefitted from a total ground up restoration between 1996-2000 and has covered a mere 24000 miles since the restoration with documented mileages. Further to this the car had an engine rebuild to unleaded specification some 9 years ago with only 2000 miles travelled since then. There has been one owner in Florida USA until, we have been reliably informed, it was sold to Exotic Automobiles in Hollywood in 1990 then sold to its first owner in the UK – Mr Brookes, followed by Mr Quarendon in 1997 and Mr Beckley in 2005 who has owned the car until just recently. The Motorcar is now being offered for sale for the first time in the last 14 years.
Features include: side screens, mohair hood, full tonneau cover, stainless steel exhaust system, original tool kit and bag, badge bar with various badges, period Lucas spotlights, chrome headlights with headlight shields, wing mirrors, folding windscreen, Union Jack badges, outside and inside tax disc holders with period 52 tax disc, aerial, leather seats, rear luggage rack, quick release petrol cap, chrome GB badge, reverse lights, discreet indicators are fitted and a black Lucas battery.
The bespoke leather bound history folder includes: previous and current UK V5s, previous Mots 1991-2017, Mot related paperwork, old road tax discs, receipts for the restoration, servicing and maintenance circa £21000, MG Octagon Car Club paperwork and correspondence, T register paperwork and listing on the register of this car under number 7950, USA title and related documentation, meticulous and complete documentation of works and mileages travelled since 1992-2006, dossier of work carried out during the ownership, full photographic record of the bare metal ground up restoration , car taken down to bare chassis, lots of correspondence, images of the car on various rallies, listed in the 2004 ‘Enjoying MG’ book on the MG Anniversary run celebrating 80 years of MG (page 37).
This is a really lovely, well maintained and potential concours example of the marque. It has a distinct air of nostalgia for a bygone era of elegant motoring. We truly believe this is one of the best MGTDs we have ever owned and it is well priced for investment at £27995
