Commentaires du vendeur sur 1948' Morgan 4/4
We are pleased to offer this very pretty Morgan 4/4 Drop Head Coupe, one of only 106 post war examples made between 1946 and 1950.
The Drop Head Coupe body offered a higher level of comfort and sophistication with a three position hood and fixed window frames. It is a very elegant design and although similar in appearance to the famous Salmons Tickford system it is far simpler and quicker to operate.
Our Morgan was delivered new to the main agent in Belfast, Victor Ltd and registered on 31 May 1948. It is powered by an overhead valve Standard Special engine of 1267cc mated to a four speed Moss gearbox, catalogue specification at the time.
In 1978 the Morgan was exported to Germany where it was fully restored. All the bills and correspondence remain on file and make interesting reading. There are also photos of the engine rebuild.
An older restoration, the Morgan still presents well though inevitably there are now some chips and scratches. The black leather interior is still in very good condition as is the double duck three position hood.
The engine starts easily and shows good oil pressure. On the road the car drives well with the famous Morgan sliding pillar ifs giving excellent feel and handling while the Standard Special engine performs eagerly.
Besides the aforementioned history file the car comes with the correct Instruction Book, complete Technical Specification and an old buff log book.
Drop Head Morgans seldom come onto the market so this represents a rare opportunity to acquire one.
