Porsche's strong historical links with Volkswagen were re-affirmed in 1969 with the launch of the Porsche designed 914 which was a mid-engined, Targa-top sports car assembled by Karmann of Osnabrück. At the time, Volkswagen needed a new car to replace the ageing Karmann Ghia while Porsche was looking for another option to add to its line-up. Employing independent suspension to which four wheel disc brakes and a five speed gearbox were married. In 1973 the 1,971cc four cylinder was replaced by the two litre engine which also featured forged alloy wheels, front and rear anti-roll bars and an improved interior incorporating additional instrumentation making this a much more desirable model.Presented in yellow and recently imported from California, this Porsche has many new parts including all new interior, new Fuchs wheels, new windscreen, all new rubbers throughout and new accelerator cable to name a few. The owner has also renewed all discs and brake pads and, we are told, the car drives extremely well, particularly as this has the more desirable two litre engine which is rare to find. These Porsche models have become something of a cult status to those in the know and are still turning heads as much today as they did when first manufactured.
