Downsizing small collection of RR & Bentley cars means our 49 Hooper bodied Silver Wraith project car is now for sale.
Chassis number WCB71 left the Rolls Royce Merlin engine works 11th September 1948. The black coachwork, a Hooper Teviot limousine design was completed and delivered for the first owner, a Manchester based upholstery company on 13th April 1949.Original order was via J. Cockshoot & Company of Manchester.
The body is all alloy on an Ash frame.Interior has an electric division, drinks cabinet and a sunroof. The trim is finished in beige leather to front and back.
All 4 original hubcaps / trims are in place along with the hubcap wrench and starting handle.
The vehicle runs and drives, it is the original 6 cylinder 4.2 Litre engine W199B coupled to its original 4 speed manual gearbox.
Recent work / expenditure includes overhaul of the fuel system with new twin SU fuel pump, new brass tank filter and reconditioning the fuel tank. The fuel tank was removed, opened up, cleaned and resealed by a fuel tank specialist company. A new battery has also been fitted.
Also included in the sale are; A new set of 4 correct size 17" radial tyres equivalent to the original cross ply type and a new brake master cylinder.
Copies of the original build sheets and some Hooper service history are with the vehicle. UK V5C is present and currently UK MOT and Road Tax exempt registered as Historic Vehicle on the original UK number KNA 764.
This is a project vehicle requiring further work and expenditure.
Possibly also available is a 1953 Hooper bodied coach built Bentley 4.5Litre R Type automatic razor edge saloon. This is of all alloy lightweight construction including the body and structure.This body type is known as the Empress Styling.
