Italian automotive re-imaginer Totem Automobili has created some incredible modernized icons. Electric and carbon Alfa Romeos, a GT Super with a bespoke 2.8-liter V6, and beasts with more than 800 horsepower in a chassis that's just over 2,400 pounds.

Now the company is planning a return to Monterey Car Week in August, and it has some new models to bring with it. Three new special vehicles and a brand-new electronic suspension that can be adjusted from inside the cabin. It also plans to tie one on with a new partner. Unfortunately, we only have snippets of information now. But based on previous experience, we have a reasonably good idea of what to expect.

New Suspension For An Even Greater Experience
That new partner is luxury goods company E. Marinella. The company is best known for its silk ties, and the new partnership is meant to help explore craftsmanship and automotive design. Exactly how that will factor in will be interesting, but expect some pretty snazzy interiors for these new cars.

The new suspension has us interested. Sure modern cars have sport and comfort modes, but it's not exactly common on a car that was originally built in 1965. Totem said that the adjustable system will have 10 driving modes and 25 possible combinations. That's a massive amount of flexibility, one that should make the car even more of a joy. Or frustrate you as you try dialing in just the right combination.

Totem hasn't announced what its new vehicles will be, but we have a pretty good idea. That's because all the company's cars to date have been based around the Alfa Giulia GT Junior and GTA racer. The Junior was Alfa's entry-level coupe back in 1965, fitted with a 1.3-liter engine and by 1972 added a 1600 as well.

The car was built all the way to 1977, which was plenty of time for it to become an icon in Italy. Sporty, cheap, and gorgeous, it's the kind of car that stays in your brain forever.

Which explains why Totem has had such success with its restomods. They take that classic shape and then ditch almost everything about the car. Instead of Alfa factory steel, this car is crafted with a carbon fiber chassis like a supercar. It's light, it's lithe, and somehow at the same time the wider arches make it gruff.

Aluminum subframes hold the engine and rear ends of the car. There are some original Alfa bits in there too, though we're not clear on how much.

Totem offers three versions right now. The electric GT Electric, the gas GT Super, and the monster GTA Modificato. The EV is meant as a greener grand tourer. Its in-house electric system makes 590 horsepower and can get it from 0-62 in 2.9 seconds.

The GT Super uses a 2.8-liter V6 called Gloria. The engine was made with Italtechnica and is twin-turbocharged to make 600 horses. Obviously, it is rear-drive, like all the Totem line. Lastly, there's the GTA Modificata which is lighter and race-ready. Its version of the engine makes 810 horsepower, and it has a sequential manual box for speed. Somehow it's 440 pounds lighter than the Super. That's just 2,414 pounds total, by the way.

The Totem Automobili SuperGT "Jarama" pays tribute to the Alfa Romeo GTA Junior 1300 that took a 1972 victory at the track.

Each car is built to match the desires of its new owner. Finishes, details, and just about everything can be tweaked to be exactly how they would like it.

Now three new cars are set to be revealed in August. Will they be like the ones we described above? Stay tuned, because Monterey is just around the corner.
