Nothing else was done to it, as far as we can tell, from that point forward. But, as you can see, this thing is absolutely mint and the fact that it just sold for $159,000 comes as little surprise. If this had been a Split-Window coupe model, it would have fetched even more at auction.
For those in need of a brief history lesson, what you’re looking at here is a second-generation (C2) Corvette Sting Ray, pertaining to the final model year before the lineup was turned over to the C3.
The ‘67 was by far the best C2 Vette, thanks to five years of consistent refinements. These still came with the epic 427 ci Tri-Power big-block V8, which also happens to be featured underneath the hood of this Goodwood Green example. More on that later.
First, let’s talk visuals. Aside from the gorgeous colorway, this classic American sports car also comes with a black stinger stripe, a removable hardtop, a black convertible soft top, a stinger hood, retractable headlights, chrome split bumperettes, fender vents, a driver-side mirror, a side-exit exhaust system with heat shields, plus a set of turbine-style 15” wheels with BFGoodrich Radial tires.
It also packs a fully independent suspension, which according to the ad was overhauled as part of the previously mentioned restoration work.
Meanwhile, interior highlights include the Saddle vinyl bucket seats, color-coordinated door panels and carpets, a heater, a vertical push-button AM/FM radio, analog clock, a three-spoke steering wheel and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. There’s also additional sound deadening material, which always makes for a solid upgrade.
As for the engine, it’s the previously mentioned 427 ci L71 V8 unit with the three two-barrel carburetor setup. It was rebuilt in 2005 and overhauled between 2016 and 2017. The odometer shows just 103 miles, which is a sight for sore eyes. The engine stamping is also visible, with the JE suffix corresponding to a flagship-spec 427 ci L71 V8 with a manual gearbox.
In terms of performance, this engine had a factory rating of 435 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, with everything going to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual. The differential was also rebuilt in 2016, with the frame sandblasted and refinished.
