This Guy Kept A Lamborghini Miura In His Living Room For 40 Years
The Lamborghini Miura is an incredibly rare car, with fewer than 800 ever leaving the factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese. Finding one in a barn is considered nearly impossible, but what about finding one in a living room?

As farfetched as that scenario might seem, it's exactly what happened on the latest episode of Extreme Detailing on Discovery. The show is hosted by master car detailer and YouTuber, Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC.

Kosilla gets a call from his friend Barrett, an exotic car broker, who tells him there is a rare Lamborghini parked in a man's living room in East Rockaway, New York. A Miura is valuable in nearly any condition, but Barrett calls on Kosilla to check it out, to see exactly what this car might be worth before making an offer on it. And, probably, to confirm it's actually a Miura parked in a living room. This story is absolutely bonkers.

Who Parks A Lambo In Their Living Room?
The car in question is a Miura S, one of 50 considered to be a "Series 2" car and one of only three finished in this brownish-gold color. Paul, the owner, brought the car into the house through the garage over 40 years ago, then trapped the car inside by building a new wall. "I have a friend with a helicopter," he joked. Not only was the car intact, but he even kept all the original owner's manuals and records.

Paul said he paid $10,000 for the car back in the day. Although it's not disclosed on the show, Barrett pays over $1 million for it now. The car was far more valuable than the house in which it was trapped for so many years.

Kosilla checks the car, and finds most of the gauges and switches to be in good shape, but the passenger seat has clearly been chewed up by something and most of the bushings are dried up. As a detailer, Kosilla's specialty is checking the paint, and he comes to the conclusion that it likely has not been repainted. Finally, he checks that the engine and the chassis match, which they do.

Getting The Car Out Of The House
Extreme Detailing briefly becomes a home renovation show, as Kosilla and his friend help tear down the wall to get the Miura out of the house. This involves removing an air-conditioning unit, and several other cars parked in the garage. Removing a wall typically isn't that hard, but when you are holding a hammer right near a seven-figure classic supercar, we suspect each swing feels a bit more stressful.

With the wall down, the Miura rolls relatively easily out through the garage, despite not moving from the living room in four decades. It's certainly a strange place to store a car, but in this case, it may have been the ideal spot. Safely within the walls, the Lambo was essentially kept in a climate-controlled environment – albeit one in which it couldn't escape.

We hope whoever owns the car next will get it running and driving, and let it see the sunlight. The rest of the episode features Kosilla detailing a DeLorean, which is a unique process unto itself because that car has an unpainted stainless steel body.
