Here lies an exciting opportunity to purchase and lightly restore a holy grail find Austin Healey to concours levels and own one of the most fantastic to drive and rarest Healeys ever built.

The MkII Two-Seater (BN7) Austin Healeys owe their existence more to competition than the showroom. Built to homologate the five works race and rally cars with registrations ‘37’, ‘47’, ‘57’, ‘67’ and ’77 ARX’, just 355 MkII BN7 cars were built for one year only in LHD and RHD. Works competition cars were home market cars taken off the production line and modified. As such these cars are included in the quoted figures below.

These two-seat cars make not only in the most beautiful Healeys ever built with totally uncompromised, flowing lines but also result in a far better-balanced machine with both a stiffer rear tub and superior weight distribution, powered by the rare and all-important triple carburettor setup lusted after by chief engineer Geoffrey Healey to give the five aforementioned racers more power. All MkII BN7 cars are coveted and highly valuable for these reasons as well as their pedigree.

This particular car ‘OO 5620’ is yet rarer still. We have worked with the original archives specialists at British Motor Heritage to discover ‘OO’ is one of just 25 original RHD two-seaters built for the home market in 1961 but remarkably one of just four built finished in the most desirable colour scheme Healey made of Healey Blue Metallic with Ivory Duotone. The car is one of one in this combination with overdrive and disc wheels plus has the bonus of servo brakes from the factory. With only one of the works team cars surviving and many road cars lost it is easy to speculate that this could be one of the rarest finds out there.

At present day ‘OO’ is a solid and driveable car with many very original features including its original engine, factory tri carb setup, gearbox, rear axle, front and rear shrouds, boot and bonnet with original correct factory stamped numbers, all original chrome, original instrumentation and is a totally complete car.

We are proud to offer this light restoration project as an opportunity to build a world class car. It’s condition – outstanding for a restoration project – and highly original will result in an incredible car, worth well into six figures in its original colours restored to our standards. The car will require a body off repaint, some metalwork improvements as well as an interior retrim to fix its current defects.

The car is available to your specifications: restored to factory concours specifications or upgraded and modernised. Gallery photos of similar MkII BN7 cars and works racers not actual car.
