1949' Bristol 400
This car is in excellent condition, not the average 400,in that it has never had any welding done to the chassis or body, and it did not need any when we took it apart in 2018.
It is a later model 400 with opening rear window and the spare wheel is on the boot lid.
It was exported to Australia when new,we have the build sheet and export details, also confirms it is a matching number car.The car was mechanically good, running well and looked as if it had never had a restoration when we inspected it in Adelaide, before buying it and shipping it back to the UK in 2017.
The paint was old and poor, the interior worse having suffered from the hot dry climate.Someone had recovered the seats with a horrible vinyl,we even discovered some of the very worn leather underneath.
We took off the wings, bonnet, boot lid, doors, all the glass and chrome trim,It has had a bare metal repaint in Aston Martin Chichester Blue which looks better in the flesh than the photographs.
Everything was carefully refitted, then we had the interior retrimmed in cream leather, new roof lining, door panels, carpets and the wooden trim was refinished.
Finally it was fully waxoyled.
It has only covered a few miles since,is fully registered on a V5,all duties paid,MOT can be done if required.
Comes with original tools and instruction book.
The 2litre 6cylinder pulls well, keeping up with modern traffic with an easy 60 mph cruising speed.A rare opportunity to acquire a rust free unmolested original car.
