1969' Jaguar E-Type

Originally launched in 1968, the S2 E-type is the facelifted model of the internationally adored E-Type (XKE) and is powered by a 4.2-litre straight 6 engine that produced 265hp. There’s something so wonderfully simple about driving a classic car like this. Where today’s cars are full of cluttered digital dashboards and over-complicated traction control systems and driver aids, cars like the E-Type take you back to a simpler time when you had 3 pedals, that gorgeous wooden 3-spoke steering wheel, some Smiths dials and some chunky rocker switches. You very quickly forget about any modern troubles and drift off back to a time where car design was at its peak.

This fabulous convertible variant of the Series 2 E-Type is presented with stunning unmarked Opalescent Silver Grey paintwork with a fresh grey leather interior and a new blue mohair roof. The car was originally exported to the USA in 1969 where it had one owner for 47 years who looked after the car with a no-expense-sparred attitude. The car was imported back into the UK in 2017 and it was then purchased by its current owner.

Since its arrival in the UK, the car has undergone a full restoration at a great expense to the current owner. This restoration includes a full bare metal strip back and respray by the Jaguar Classics spray team, a mechanical rebuild and overhaul by a renowned Jaguar team to the full original UK specification and the interior was completely re-trimmed to an almost-original factory specification with many new parts being fitted. Some subtle upgrades include a DAB radio with Bluetooth connectivity with a period-correct aesthetic.

This 2-owner car has only covered 49,000 miles from new and is a completely original, matching numbers: engine and chassis and is “perfection to view and to drive”. Complete with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate along with extensive documentation to support its provenance.
