A gorgeous original Flavia coupe, 4 speed, PAS, leather in classic colours.
We are facilitating the sale of this car on behalf of a customer.
History of this car
We sold this lovely Lancia to the current owner in 2016, and it’s now back with us as his GT car collection has taken a new direction. Around 3000 kms have been added to the odometer in his hands, and the car has seen regular usage and careful upkeep.
This Flavia was first registered in Rome on 27.11.1970 and is a rare tipo 820.430 model being one of 700 fuel injected examples built, also equipped with desirable power steering and 4 speed manual transmission.
Our car was also optioned with both a Blaupunkt radio and a black leather interior (a very expensive extra), which crisply contrasts with bodywork in grigio escoli, a subtle silver grey metallic, perfect colours for such an understated machine.
This Lancia was a Rome car until 2005 when it was bought by a lady in Perugia, from whom we purchased the car in 2016. She was the third owner from new so this is therefore now a 4 owner from new machine.
At some point the fuel injection was removed and replaced by a Solex carburettor from a similar car, a common modification. This at least helps ensure reliable running but otherwise the car remains pleasingly original.
Mileage recorded is 130,000 klms or about 80,000 miles which whilst not guaranteed is entirely believable given the originality and condition of the vehicle.
Body
This is a solid, accident free car that presents beautifully in it’s grigio escoli paintwork, the delivery colour. Our car was glass out, bare metal repainted some years ago (photo documented) and the finish today remains classy with the odd imperfection. The car makes a strong first impression.
The sides are arrow straight and ripple free with factory fresh panel fitment; opening panels shut with a satisfying clunk.
Chassis wise this Flavia is completely sound with factory undercoating in evidence throughout. We Dinitrol cavity rust proofed the car upon importation to help preserve it for the future.
The stainless trim and glass are in excellent condition. The bumpers have a few parking scars typical of this model and are satisfactory.
The road wheels had a £460.00 strip and repaint in 2017 and look superb.
Mechanics
Our car’s whisper quiet engine has good oil pressure, makes plenty of power and is in excellent tune. The brakes are powerful and the gearbox/clutch operate sweetly and the car drives very well indeed, tight and responsive with the benefit of perfectly weighted power steering.
Under bonnet presentation is impressive with factory finishes throughout and the car has been specialist serviced recently, including a £1100 brake overhaul and carburettor rebuild.
The Lancia was fitted with 4 new Michelin XZX tyres in 2016 and had an exhaust replacement at the same time.
Advisory free MOT until August 2018.
Interior
This is a plus with this car being to rare specification, and in good original condition.
The black leather has been Connolised in the past and today presents with a pleasing patina and some minor wear. The original red carpets are in good clean condition, again with only minor wear evident. The dashboard is crack free, door cards are good and the headlining is clean.
Our car has recently had £1200 of retro style front and rear seat belts fitted, complete with chrome buckles, and very nice they are too.
Boot
In pristine condition with original matting, spare wheel with cover and tie down in place. The treasure here is the amazing unused and complete toolkit with tool bag. The proper Battiani jack is in place next to it. We’ve not seen this level of equipment completeness before on a Flavia.
Summary
Great colours, great runner, a rare and distinctive classic Lancia with bags of Pininfarina style at half the price of an equivalent GTV Alfa, on the button and ready to go.
