Vehicle history:

On July 31, 1939 a Warsaw company called Zakl ordered this 170 V Cabriolet A from Mercedes-Benz. As the war began only a short time later, the order was canceled on August 15, 1939 and the car, which was already in production, was sent to Wilhelm Hahn from the company Hahn and Kolb in Stuttgart.
Years later, in 1983, a restoration began that was not completed. The project was sold to the current owner. In 2016, the work on the car was completed.
This cabriolet has been completely restored and is now available in the delivery color, just as it was in 1939. The 170 Cabriolet A had a four-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 1.7 liters. It was combined with a four-speed gearbox. The Cabriolet A was the most expensive of the 170 V vehicles. It was equipped with the newly developed rear swing axle, which enabled better comfort and faster cornering.
The "V" (The “V” stands for the German word "Vorne", meaning ‘front’) in the type designation served to distinguish it from the 170 H (W 28) presented at the same time, which had practically the same engine installed in the rear. The 170 H (The “H” stands for the German word "Heck", meaning ‘rear’) is the more powerful and improved successor to the 130 (W 23) model presented two years earlier, the first Mercedes-Benz rear-engine car.
