; Registration No: 490 CKLChassis No: RA4S5-20774-MMOT: ExemptBelieved to have been commissioned as an unmarked Police vehicleAn opportunity to restore a rare Riley Kestrel 1300Offered with Swansea V5 documentThe BMC Riley Kestrel was a badge engineered version of the highly successful Morris 1100 which had been launched in August 1962. The Kestrel joined the ranks along with the Wolseley 1100 in September 1965. The cost of the car was £781. The Kestrel, based on the ADO16 design by Alec Issigonis, was now a larger and more sophisticated car than the previous Riley Mini version which incorporated more advanced features and innovations but still with the BMC A-Series engine, mounted transversely and driving the front wheels. The gearbox was located under the engine which also shared the oil supply with the engine. As well as disc brakes at the front an option for a four-speed automatic transmission was also available.First registered on 1st February 1970, the vendor believes this Kestrel may have seen service as an under cover Police vehicle. Now ready for restoration, ‘490 CKL’ sports an unusual commission plate under the bonnet as well as other items pointing to its former life including a blue bulb fog light, multiple horns and extra switches for radio and lights. Offered for sale with a current Swansea V5C.
