1955 Doretti Swallow Mark 1 with overdrive - original UK car RHD and a very rare car! Chassis number 1256 - engine number TS5037E - reg number WPC7 - finished in Maclaren Orange - a matching numbers car. This Doretti Swallow is One of only 276 examples ever made and less than 70 still left in the world today with probably only around 20 left in the UK.Swallow Doretti chassis number 1256 is a rare 1955 matching-numbers model finished in Maclaren Orange, featuring engine number TS5037E and registration number WPC7 (this alone could be worth £5/ 7k)! This car does start and run and drive with all electrics working too. This rare car also has overdrive that also works. Chassis #1256 is a "matching numbers" 1955 Swallow Doretti Roadster. Because production of these hand-built cars ended abruptly in 1955 it remains a rare historical artefact. It is fitted with its original engine, number plate is registered in the UK under the license plate WPC 7 and stands out due to its striking McLaren Orange paint finish.Documentation indicates an incredibly stable ownership history. The car had a single long-term owner from 1966 until recently, meaning it spent many decades off the public radar. After being dry-stored in a garage for several years, it emerged in highly original, unmolested "hibernation" condition, retaining all its original aluminium body panels, chrome work, and glass.Vehicle Details & History• Production Status: It is one of only 276 Swallow Doretti Mk I examples ever produced by the Swallow Coachbuilding Company in Walsall, England.• Survival Rarity: It is among fewer than 70 examples remaining worldwide and roughly 20 left in the United Kingdom.• Ownership & Storage: It has no previous owners recorded on its V5 document, was held by its last long-term owner since 1966, and spent several years off the road in dry garage storage.• Condition: Retains its original state, matching mechanical components, complete aluminum/ steel body panels, and historical buff log books. No previous owners on the V5 and the last owner since 1966 according to details on file. Buff log books available in the history file which is fairly comprehensive detailing some past works and old MOT.The car does runs but will need light recommissioning to use on the roads again given its time off the road. The photos taken are exactly what it looked like when it came out of hibernation. No tool has been used on the engine, no cleaning cloths on the bodywork which is in excellent order! The chassis looks to be in good order and all panels, window screens and roof are complete with the car. The chrome work appears to be also in good order. Spare wheel in the boot too.Why is this car so rare?A Short Production Run: Built by the Swallow Coachbuilding Company (part of the Tube Investments group) in Walsall, England.Quick Discontinuation: Production was abruptly halted in 1955 due to internal corporate politics and pressure from Jaguar, which viewed the Doretti as a direct competitor to the XK120.Market Focus: Most of the hand-built aluminum and steel roadsters were originally exported to the United States (particularly California), leaving very few on European roads.A superb opportunity to secure a rare car and enjoy!Nationwide delivery can be arranged at additional cost
