The Volkswagen Type Two was introduced in 1950 as a multi-variant utility vehicle, known as the Transporter, Kombi or Microbus (depending on body type) and was devised as an evolution of the Volkswagen Type One, the original Beetle. The first generation of these versatile vehicles, named the T1, was produced with distinctive split-screens from 1950 until 1967. Only two models were originally offered, the Kombi and the Commercial, the Microbus was added in May 1950, and was joined by the Deluxe Microbus in June 1951.

This 1967 Sundial camper was originally imported in 2011 from Idaho, USA and fitted was with an 1800cc engine from a light aircraft! With the vehicle in need of some restoration work, the then owner had intended to scrap this engine and opt for a traditional stock overhauled 1200cc engine. After all the necessary welding and body work was complete, the then owner, in 2013 leaned on expertise from XYZ VW in Tottenham to perform the all important preparation for the camper. Before deciding on this striking colour combination of Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red and Mercedes Primrose Yellow, the decision was taken to trim the camper with a matching red before continuing on with the restoration. New brakes were fitted throughout including a new master cylinder to complement the drivability of the camper, this was coupled to a set of restored steel wheels and chrome hubcaps. The interior fitting is bespoke, the owner was disappointed with off-the-shelf options and decided to tackle this personally, thus the plywood roof panels and trim all add to the ultra cool look for this van, both inside and out. A ? width rock-and-roll bed can be found next to the custom cabinets and this camper has been converted to 12v which helps to power the electrics and a modern stereo. Upon completion, this example was featured in the August 2013's edition of Ultra VW magazine for which it was the cover car. Offered today with a sensible estimate and in wonderful condition, this unique and head turning camper will be the perfect foil for events, festivals and trips to the coast where you will inevitably be the envy of camper fans throughout.
