1936 Wolseley Wasp for sale

The Wolseley Wasp is a light 4 door saloon car, produced by Wolseley Motors Limited between April 1935 and April 1936. The 1069 (10cc) overhead camshaft four cylinder engine (32 bhp @ 4000 rpm), has 12 volt electrics and drives the rear wheels via a four speed manual gearbox. The Wasp has a top speed of 64 mph and it does 0–60 mph in 29 seconds. Fuel consumption is around 32 mpg. Hydraulic brakes are fitted all round. The length of the Wasp is 11 feet, 11 inches and its width is 4 feet, 9 1/2 inches.

For sale, is my green and black 1936 Wolseley Wasp, registration 794 UXS (date of first registration 25th March 1936, originally registered in North West London). The original registration of the Wasp was BOY 118 and was changed by DVLA on 16th June 2006 to 794 UXS, due to the number plate being sold by a cherished number plate company. I bought the Wasp in 2008 (purchased in Hayle, Cornwall) but due to ill health, have not been able to fully restore it.

There were 5,815 (5,750 made for the UK) Wasps originally produced and there are around 61 known to exist today, so rare. This Wasp is the youngest or latest of any known Wasp to have survived, being registered on 25th March 1936, so a special Wasp.

Mileage is 69,290.

The Wasp is in running order, but has not been on the road. The last recorded MOT test was on 6th June 2006 when it passed its test. The Wasp starts easily and every time and runs very well, producing good oil pressure. All gears engage and operate correctly. The handbrake works. The Wasp steers as it should do. For safety reasons, the Wasp has been rewired completely, although this is not in period correct wiring. All electrical circuits appear to be working fine. All brake cylinders have had new seals fitted and the Wasp has had a brand new master cylinder fitted. The vehicle brakes very well for a car of this period. Be under no doubt, that this vehicle will require much work to get it back into a useable condition, however it will make a very sound basis for a project vehicle and there is no reason why this Wasp, could not be back on the road in very useable condition, with a considerable increase in value.

As it is a historic vehicle, it is tax free and does not need an MOT test due to its age, although I would always put a car through a test for safety.

The V5C is present and it is in my name.

Comes with some excellent and very helpful Wolseley Wasp Service Information Sheets, Spare Parts List, diagrams and other paperwork.

The bodywork is not too bad for its age but I would have given it a re-spray.

The Wasp needs a complete new interior.
