Seller's comments about 1974' Aston Martin V8

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. The Aston Martin V8 (later known as the AMV8) was introduced in 1969 to replace the ageing DB6, with the brief being to create a handsome, powerful GT car, powered by Tadek Marek’s V8 engine, and remained atop the company’s model range until its retirement in 1989. Initially, the V8 was equipped with a Bosch fuel injection system for the first two models (known as the V8 and AMV8, respectively) though the Series 3 models - on offer here - switched back to a carburettor setup, with four twin-choke Weber carburettors necessitating a substantial bulge in the bonnet to accommodate the additional height of the carbs.Hand-built at Aston Martin’s Newport Pagnell factory, each Aston Martin V8 took in the region of 1, 200 man-hours to complete, with each car inspected rigorously to ensure the continued upkeep of Aston Martin’s legendary build quality and reputation. This striking 1974 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 represents a rare opportunity to acquire a truly authentic example of one of Aston Martin’s most charismatic grand tourers. Supplied new to the UK on 8th November 1974, this particular example is offered fresh to market and has remained in the care of its lady owner since 2009.Finished in the striking shade of Imperial Blue over a classic Aston natural leather interior, the car presents in superb overall condition, having been carefully maintained rather than restored. Its originality is a defining feature - increasingly difficult to find in today’s market - lending it a level of honesty and character that is highly prized by collectors and enthusiasts alike.Equipped with the desirable manual gearbox, this Series 3 delivers the engaging driving experience for which these hand-built V8 models are so well regarded. Showing just over 108, 400 miles, the car is supported by an extensive history file comprising three folders of documentation, evidencing consistent and diligent mechanical maintenance throughout its life. The Aston has been maintained by Alan Hassle Racing since 2010, the clutch was replaced in 2021 just less than 700 miles ago, and it was last serviced in June 2025 at 108, 330 miles. This is not a car that has been over-restored or altered, but rather one that has been preserved and enjoyed as intended - a usable, well-sorted example that remains true to its origins. Opportunities to acquire such an original and well-documented Aston Martin V8 Series 3 are increasingly rare, making this a particularly compelling proposition for the discerning collector.
