Seller's comments about 1932' Austin 7

The RN was the last of the Austin 7's to have a three speed gearbox, gravity fed fuel tank and the first model to have a sunshine roof as standard. The Austin 7, built at Longbridge, Birmingham had set the fashion in small car motoring just ten years before the launch of the RN. This model was now re-designed on a longer chassis, built between 7th October 1931 and September 1932.
The model offered a steel bodied saloon based on the new longer wheelbase and wider rear track chassis, which consequently had a larger and wider body featuring pressed-out beading along the waistline and two vertical seams. Although the position and location of the two independent, tilt-forward front bucket seats had not altered, the rear seat was greatly improved in design and comfort. Sloping foot wells were let into the floor on either side of the tunnel tapering underneath the front seats and helping to eliminate the cramped feeling previously experienced and the large straight-sided 33"wide doors carried a single panel wind-down Triplex window. The forward opening Triplex front windscreen was fitted with a rubber weatherseal let into the frame and fitted with a revised over-centre locking catch. A black Lucas suction operated windscreen wiper was also fitted to the upper rail of the screen, which acted as a hinge.
GX 8126 is a superbly presented example that has been rebuilt to an exceptionally high standard many years ago. We last sold the 7 in November 2022 to one of our long term regular customers in Essex, and prior to that in late 2019 when we delivered it to regular customers in Norfolk. The Austin now returns to us in part exchange where we will be selling the car for the third time. This is now a car we know well, and can confirm the bodywork is first class and with correct cellulose paintwork and superb chrome, the car looks truly outstanding. All glass and rubbers are first class, the interior has been professionally re-trimmed in Red leather to the original pattern with elasticated door pockets and pneumatic seat cushions. New carpets have been correctly edged, the headlining is unmarked and the interior retains its correct driver controlled rear blind and sunroof. The Austin runs on recently fitted Blockley tyres, re-furbished wheels and the engine bay is of show standard condition. Our Austin 7 RN is equally impressive on the road, first of all starting on the button and driving superbly with a lovely strong engine holding correct oil pressure, the three speed gearbox is a delight to use and the Austin handles, brakes and performs correctly. This is a real gem, it is in delightful condition throughout and has clearly been restored with no expense spared.
