Seller's comments about 1930' Austin 7 Replica
1930 AUSTIN 7 ‘ULSTER’
EA Sports Replica
SV 7311
Offered for sale, a really superb Austin 7 Ulster, a fine representation of the original EA sports model, this carefully built, original SWB car, most probably started life with a Chummy body, however, as with so many Austin sevens, it is likely that the original body was at some point beyond repair. By the late 1990s SV 7311 was rebodied and rebuilt, with the clear intention to build, as accurate a copy as possible, of the EA Sports or ‘Ulster’ model, it has full supporting V5 paperwork and is correctly registered.
With fantastic attention to detail, this Ulster is a very close replica, featuring as it does, the correct full wings, Ulster 9E head, Ulster exhaust manifold with its distinctive up-swept design and a lovely Solex 30Mov rebuilt recently by Solex expert Robert Foreman, the last owner informs me that Phoenix crank and rods complete the sturdy bottom end of this lovely engine.
The 19inch wheels look to have been recently rebuilt and are shod with fresh Blockley tyres.
The coachwork, with its dark green finish and contrasting black wings, is thought to be that of Compound Curvatures, who all well renowned for their accurate Ulster copies.
The interior is trimmed tastefully in black and with a full windscreen, hood and tonneau, this is a most useable car, ideal for touring, as it is for competition.
The dashboard is also nicely detailed, with its Smiths 100 mph speedometer and rev-counter, both cable-driven.
It is unusual to find such a well put together car, often Austin Sevens, can be somewhat thrown together by the amateur builder, but I am delighted to say SV 7311 is one of the nicest we have had the pleasure of offering for sale.
In summation, a great, useable Ulster replica, in really lovely condition, ideal for VSCC or 750MC events and absolutely sure to bring a smile to the new owner wherever he may wish to drive it.
