Seller's comments about 1966' Austin-Healey 3000

Built in October 1966 with wire wheels, overdrive, heater, and adjustable steering wheel in LHD form, this ‘Big Healey’ was a personal export to the U. S. Cars like this one, first registered in the UK (JGT 583D) in London before export months later, often indicated a car being bought by someone in the U. S. military or diplomatic service before returning home. Little is known of its U. S. history, but we have the U. S. ‘pink slip’ Certificate of Title, showing that in 1989 it was registered to an owner in Baton Rouge, U. S. A.In May 1990 it was re-registered AGS 880D on return from Louisiana. After arrival it had a full engine rebuild and since then has covered only 10, 000 miles. 2012 saw the interior fully retrimmed in Black with matching black carpets. The hood and hood cover were also renewed. With MOT certificates dating back to 1992, the Austin Healey's mileage of 75, 000 is conceivably correct. Having lived a sheltered life in the UK and being imported from a hot climate, the underside of the Healey is structurally excellent. This is very clearly an older restoration, which has minor paint imperfections, but the drive is absolutely glorious. This is a classic ‘user' - not cosmetically perfect but an absolute joy to drive. The car has a history file documenting its maintenance in the UK. This one really needs to be driven to be appreciated.
