Seller's comments about 1950' Buick Special Sedanette Sportwagen
At that time, the Buick brand represented the somewhat more “dynamic” and cheaper alternative to Cadillac. The full-size models were completely redesigned for the 1950 model year and are still among the most popular today due to their spectacular design. Unfortunately, the front of the 50s Buick with the distinctive radiator grille was only installed for one year. From 1951 onwards the optics were somewhat “toned down”. This is also why the 1950 model year is one of the most popular in the Buick Full Size line. The Buick Special “Jet Back” Sedanette also impresses with the great lines of the streamlined Fastback Coupe. The parallel to Cadillac can also be seen here. The name “Jet Back” was absolutely aptly chosen here. This Buick is a real survivor and is in great original condition with a very nice patina. The car's technology has currently been revised and serviced by our workshop. The Buick has been in Austria for several years and has been classified as a historic vehicle. (Oldtimer H registration). §57a “Pickerl” was also made during the service riding. The in-line eight-cylinder runs silky smooth and cleanly. The carburettor was also overhauled. The Buick drives very well and glides elegantly over the asphalt. A real American “full size” as you would imagine. The Dynaflow automatic system complements the smooth-running eight-cylinder engine perfectly. Especially in the late 1940s to early 1950s, automatic transmissions were still a real rarity. Oldsmobile introduced the first automatic transmission in 1940. However, it only became “affordable” for the average car customer in the mid-1950s. The interior is very well preserved and has been partially renovated and refurbished. Everything works as it should. The engine compartment and underbody are also in very nice original condition.
