With its Austrian registration, it is immediately ready to conquer the streets of Europe.Historical background & model historyTo understand the significance of this vehicle, you have to travel to 1948. Oldsmobile – founded in 1897 by Ransom Eli Olds – was the innovation hub of the General Motors Group (positioned between Pontiac and Buick). 1948 was a historic year of transition: it was the last year of the so-called "Torpedo" bodies from the pre-war era before the completely new "Futuramic" design ushered in modernity in 1949. The "70" series (Dynamic) was Oldsmobile's golden mean. The “Club Sedan” with its dramatically sloping fastback rear was the epitome of dynamics and aerodynamics at the time. Visually refined with an aluminum air filter and valve covers, acoustically accompanied by an exhaust system that delivers exactly the deep, goosebump-inducing V8 sound that you would expect from such a cruiser. The technology is absolutely relaxed here. The TH 700 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive ensures low revs even at higher speeds. Thanks to the conversion from 6 to 12 volts, the car starts absolutely reliably. The retrofitted power steering and the registered disc brakes with brake booster take the fear out of modern traffic from the heavy car - it drives easily and safely. Visually, the car is an absolute dream. The sunvisor gives it that unmistakable “gangster look”. A real highlight for connoisseurs is the Trafficlight Viewer (currently dismantled) on the dashboard - an optical prism that helped the driver back then to see the traffic lights under the low sunshade. The chrome-plated "Luxor Wire Wheels" deep-bed spoke rims with the pointed "bullet caps" round off the custom appearance perfectly. And as a loving detail of the era, the windshield wiper still works in style using a vacuum.
