Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to represent this 1936 Ford Coupe! The Model 48 was an update on Fords V8-powered Model 40-A the companys main product. Introduced in 1935 the Model 48 was given a cosmetic refresh annually before being thoroughly redesigned for 1941. The 1935 Fords combination of price practicality and looks vaulted the company ahead of rival Chevrolet for the sales crown that year with 820000 sold. The Ford Model 48 has a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. It features a traditional body-on-frame design and was offered with ten different body styles. Chevrolet regained the sales lead at the end of 1936 but the Ford still sold well. The look was updated with an inverted pentagonal grille with all-vertical bars beneath a prominent hood and three horizontal chrome side strips (on DeLuxe models). The V8 DeLuxe was called Model 68. A concealed horn long a prominent part of the Fords design also brought the car into modern times. The new trucks continued with the old grille. Other major changes for 1936 were the use of pressed steel artillery solid wheels instead of wire wheels. This particular 1936 has been cosmetically and mechanically refreshed but remains largely original with documentation going back to original registration in California. Originally sold new in Los Angeles CA on February 7 1936 the car spent a majority of its life there until sold and moved to collection in North Carolina. Following a long hibernation the car was refinished (with photo documentation available) before being sold to the current family roughly 15 years ago. Finished in Washington Blue over Tan Leather Interior this 36 is pristine in and out! Powering this 1936 Coupe is a 48 239ci Flathead 59A-B motor backed by a floor shifted 1939 3-Speed Manual Transmission with Hydraulic Overdrive. Additional features include upgraded brakes and axels Coker Classic Radial Tires and a 12-Volt conversion. If you are in the market for a stunning example of early American motor history this head turning 1936 Ford Coupe deserves to be driven!
