Produced by Ford UK between 1938 and 1961 as a superior model to the Popular and the Anglia (with a dimension of four meters to live up to the purpose), the Prefect had an interruption in its manufacturing period due to the 2nd World War, between 1941 and 1945. the first to be designed by Ford outside of Detroit (especially for the British market).
Its production began in October 1938, at the Ford plant in Dagenham, Essex, and was later extended to Australia (which in 1939 would receive the specific designation E03A), New Zealand, Argentina, Canada, Latvia, Ireland, South Africa and Singapore.
