Seller's comments about 1970' Jaguar E-Type

We are delighted to offer this beautifully presented matching numbers home market UK example onto the market. Our Jaguar E-Type comes with an exceptional history dating back to its early life with a file of invoices documenting its early servicing and maintenance with Bournemouth main dealerships Henlys Limited and Wadham Stringer. As early as the 1970’s the E-Type was attending JDC rallies and events and its clear from a letter from an early owner the car lead a very quiet life on the South Coast of England. MOT records show steady and consistent use over the 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s but in 2017 the car was subject of a major bare shell rebuild.
Between 2017 and 2020 the E-Type was taken back to a bare shell, the body rebuilt as required with various new panels, and then fully prepared and fully re-painted in the incredibly desirable Opalescent Silver Blue. A photographic record accompanies the car detailing the extent of the work that included professionally re-painting the underside and inside of the shell to ensure a top class professional finish throughout. The E-Type was then built up with renewed brightwork, rubbers and trims, new chrome wires and Vredestein tyres, the interior was re-fitted with various new panels and then the renewed, rebuilt or replaced mechanical components re-fitted to the car. The E-Type was also upgraded with a high torque starter motor, adjustable shock absorbers and uprated handbrake linkage. The subframe, suspension and braking system were overhauled and re-fitted, and the engine beautifully prepared and detailed before re-fitting to the car. The E-Type was completed and has covered just running in miles since.
Only 1040 home market example like this were ever built and it's rare to see a 2+2 have just a major bare shell rebuild carried out. The car now presents beautifully with a stunning gleaming paint finish and an excellent straight bodyshell. The engine bay is of a show class standard and the body coloured underside exceptional. Whist impressive to look at, the E-Type is equally as impressive on the road. The 4. 2 six cylinder engine offers first class performance with impressive oil pressure and correct cooling, the four speed all syncromesh gearbox is lovely and smooth and with hydraulic power assisted steering, all new brakes and suspension, the Jaguar rides and handles beautifully and is perfect for longer distance touring. A rebuild to this standard would cost almost double our asking price and as result this stunning, beautifully presented home market car offers incredible value.
