Seller's comments about 1971' Jaguar E-Type

For sale here is a very early Jaguar Series 3 E Type V12 Convertible. Right Hand Drive original UK car with the more desirable and rarer 4 speed manual gearbox. Finished in Regency Red with contrasting Black Leather interior. Chrome Wire Wheels, Black Soft Top, bespoke full tonneau cover, original book pack and original tools. The accompanying Heritage Certificate states that the car is Chassis Number 1S1016 which makes it the 16th Series 3 to come off the production line on the 23rd of August 1971. Distributed to Henly’s of London and dispatched by H R Owen on the 13th of September 1971. At some point in the car’s like it found it’s way to Germany where it remained for quite some time until sadly the owner passed away, unfortunately at this time the history was lost/ misplaced so when the car came back into the UK there was no record with DVLA of it’s original registration number, DVLA records only go back so far and although we endeavoured to try and find the original number alas it turned out to be fruitless therefore DVLA have issued it with a date related registration number that it wears today. The car was obviously not used for some time, so we have gone through recommissioning it by completely cleaning out the fuel tank and lines, a new fuel pump was fitted, and the carburettors stripped and rebuilt. At this time, we also fitted a new Hi Torque starter motor and prepared the car for a MoT test which we will have done for the new owner prior to sale.
Super solid car with no visible signs of rust anywhere, panel gaps are excellent, paint is superb with no flaws, maybe the odd stone chip, interior all the gauges are working correctly maybe except for the rev counter which seems erratic at times. Carpets are excellent and the leather although not new, looks like the original leather on the seats to us is fine with no rips or tears, and is still soft, seat foams also appear to be good maybe with the exception of the passenger headrest looks a bit saggy which we will have re foamed after the weekend.
Mechanically the car is sound with excellent oil pressure, the cooling fans cycle on as they should, gearbox is precise with no issues, clutch is good with plenty of feel.
The mileage shows 51, 816 which we believe to be correct but cannot be authenticated
