Seller's comments about 1969' Land Rover Series 2A
For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover Series 2a in Keswick Green (1969). Diesel 2286cc. MOT & Tax Exempt. Deluxe Bonnet. Station wagon configuration with defender style sliding rear windows. Heater with Demist. 750×16 Chevron Tyres with Matching Bonnet Mounted Spare. 7 Seater vehicle with Rear Bench Seats. Sound Deadening Kit with Deluxe Matting. Dual Link Wipers. Tow Bar and Electrics. We are delighted to present for sale this late Series 2a, just before the introduction of the “crossover” model (which introduced headlights in the wings), finished in Keswick Green with Limestone Wheels and Roof. This particular example benefits from a pair of modern, defender style sliding rear windows to afford a station wagon effect – something we do not commonly see, and desirable if one wishes to carry passengers in the rear.Externally, as the photos show, the bodywork is finished in Keswick Green – a popular, later Land Rover colour – with limestone wheels and roof complimenting the paintwork. There are many period features present one might hope to see – from the vintage number plates, rear grab handles, deluxe bonnet, wing top mounted mirrors and 750×16 chevron tyres alongside a matching bonnet mounted spare – these give superior gearing over standard for a more relaxed cruising experience, as well as filling the arches for that positive stance. There are some modern features too, such as a tow bar with electrics to allow towing. On the inside, there are three front standard seats, all with seat belts – the two outer belts have 3 point inertia belts, with a central lap belt. Deluxe matting is fitted to the footwells, and a sound deadening kit has been fitted in the front interior to reduce cabin noise when driving. There is a heater with front de-misting, which is handy for colder mornings, alongside the later dual link Series 2a wipers – unlike the early individual wiper motors, these actually clear water from the screen… as opposed to moving it from side to side! The rear is fitted with a pair of twin bench seats to afford seating for seven people, and a load mat is fitted to the floor to protect against scratches. The rear door also has an interior handle for easier closing, which is nice to see. The added benefit of those large, sliding rear windows affords lots of light into the cabin, which benefits the occupants greatly – as well as the driver, making blindspot checks far easier and giving improved overall visibility.Out on the road, this Series 2a gives a pleasing period drive, aided by the larger rubber to extend the gearing and give a more relaxed cruise, and with the interior deluxe trim reducing cabin noise at speed. Thanks to a recent brake service, it stops well too.In summary then, if you are looking for a Series 2a Land Rover which can be a fun, family companion this summer, then this is well worth considering. With seating for seven, lots of cabin light thanks to those windows, classic insurances alongside MOT and Tax exemption – this promises to be a talking point down the local pub, without costing thousands per year in road tax and insurance… unlike the guy in the sports car you’ve parked it next to!Priced at £18, 995
