ULEZ Exempt LotusUntil now I was unaware of the car company Spyder. But I’m so glad i came across them as this vehicle is fantastic and particularly special. I don’t think I’ve enjoyed driving a classic as much as this car for some time.We have sold a few Elan Plus 2's and we have always loved the look of them, and they handle superbly but the drive can be disappointing and feel unexciting.However, this Spyder creation takes the car and particularly the drive experience to a different level. The Ford Zetec 2. 0 16V makes this car seem almost modern as it pulls strong up through the gears with an under 6 seconds sprint to 60mph. Combine this with the gorgeous look and the sporty classic lines of the Elan plus 2, and you have the perfect period classic car with an absolute gem of an engine and driving experience.And the best is yet to come. We have been reliably informed, supported by the V5, that this car was produced by Spyder for the renowned Lotus collector, and racing driver from 70's -90's Malcolm Ricketts. He invested just short of £50, 000 in 2005 to specify this exciting car for himself. Having enjoyed many European tours, he eventually sold the car to the last owner who had it for 14 years.This owner used only on special occasions and kept the car in a tip top condition. Throughout the car the quality is there to be seen and for a Lotus, it is exceptional - up there with the best.Paintwork shows no signs of any defects, and the interior and dashboard look like it was restored only recently when in fact it’s an older creation from Spyder that has proven itself to be well assembled and built to last.The technical stuff … 22, 000 miles since restoration, re-painted in French Blue an original Lotus colour, Spyder aluminium chassis, 2. 0 double overhead cam Zetec with Jenvey throttle bodies, good for 220bhp, 5 speed MT75 gearbox, limited slip diff, adjustable dampers, brake upgrade with servo, solid driveshafts with twin cv joints, chrome all round, full retrim inc seats, dash, carpets, headlining.Once i wedged myself behind the wheel and took her for a drive i was blown away by this car.
