The second generation Volkswagen Beetle 1300 is a compact car with rear drive and a four-cylinder boxer engine with a capacity of 1.3 liters, air-cooled, which, instead of roaring, offers a solid, hard-working rumble. The rear engine works with independent suspension on all wheels, which provides surprisingly good traction - especially when you don't exaggerate at speed. The distinctive, rounded fastback body makes it difficult to confuse it with anything else, and its aerodynamics - although rather symbolic - are still impressive. The 1300 version offered slightly better performance than earlier variants, which made it quite lively, at least by the standards of the era.
