Recently Restored Rare Survivor Stamped service book & V5C included
H&H are indebted to the Vendor for the below description:
Originally a South African import, where it resided for many years, it would appear from the available information that the car was in Ireland by 2002 and was then purchased by the present owner.
The Mercedes has clearly been the subject of a meticulous restoration, presumably after leaving South Africa but regrettably there is no documentation to this effect although the quality of the car speaks for itself.
This is a superbly presented car that must be seen and inspected by any potential purchaser as its condition is superb in all respects, bodily, internally and mechanically with only a couple of minor trim blemishes ….. a written description does not do this car justice. There is no structural corrosion, no indication of filler and it would appear that many of the panels, including the wings, are new. This car is of collector/museum quality.
With a manual column shift gearbox providing smooth changes and the bigger 6 cyl. engine, which also appears to have been overhauled as all visible gaskets seem recent and it runs just as it should showing less than 75,000 miles.
Produced from 1956 to 1959 the W105 series 219 Ponton shared the same 2.2 litre 6 cylinder engine as the 220 but had a shorter wheelbase and fell between the 190 and the 220. Some 28,000 were built and survivors are now much sought after.
Original handbook/service book and original brochure along with current V5 are provided with the car.
