Mercedes 280 Sel 4.5 W108 is a limousine that in its era was second to none. The generation debuted in 1965, complementing the luxurious line of W111 models with a version in which the wings did not go out. At the end of the production of the W108 generation, Mercedes did everything to meet the growing expectations of customers in relation to the power of available power units. Therefore, V8 engines with a capacity of 3.5 and 4.5 l, with a power of about 200 horsepower, entered the offer. Mercedes 280 SE 4.5 W108 was created for the American market. Introduced in 1971, equipped with an enlarged unit, compensated for power losses caused by exhaust emission control and a lower octane fuel in the United States. Only 8173 pieces were built such cars, only in 1971-73 and only to the North American market.
