Seller's comments about 1971' Mercedes-Benz R107 Sl350
This is a very solid example of one of the earliest examples of Mercedes’ famed R107 chassis SL models.
It was located near Los Angeles a few years ago, and I discovered after talking to Mercedes, it to be a 1971 build and one of the first 1500 produced. As such, it has some very rare early features including; metal blower cover and water expansion tank, original steering wheel, auto transmission selector lever and more, which are all still on the car.
The car is now with me in the Uk and I will apply for a UK V5c.
The underside and main body of the car is untouched; it has not had and will not need welding and there is only light surface rust in places. The engine is a V8 and although I haven’t attempted to start it. These early cars were badged in the US as a 350 but were in fact the larger 450 engines.
It’s a rare example and will be tax and mot exempt, and importantly it will be a valuable car for someone once restored. It’s a superb base to start the rebuild from and avoids the use of ‘electric glue’ (welding!).
I’d be happy to chat to you about it. I’d like it to go to a good home and I have hundreds of pictures and a selection of videos I can pass onto you. I've included one video of the underside of the car so you can see how solid and original it is.
I'm motivated to sell it so do please feel free to make offers. Even as a spares and repairs car it has many valuable parts on it.
