Seller's comments about 1970' Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse
Rare restored high radiator in perfect elegance! Up for sale is a technically and visually flawless Mercedes-Benz W 111 Cabriolet from 1970 in the factory color dark green 854 and cream-colored leather interior including a same-colored hood/cover. This timeless classic already has an Austrian historical registration and was extensively restored with great attention to detail some time ago. The result speaks for itself: the paintwork impresses with its depth and shine, the interior invites you to linger, and the magnificent wood and chrome applications are in excellent condition. With an estimated condition rating of 2+ (according to Classic Data), this convertible is immediately ready for use for great occasions or stylish trips.History & RarityConnoisseurs know: The W111 series as a convertible is rare, but the 280 SE with the legendary M130 in-line six-cylinder is in a class of its own. While over 4,500 units of the later 3.5l V8 model were produced, only 1,390 units of the 280 SE Cabriolet left the factory. What is particularly noteworthy is that this is a high-cooler version. This original, raised front end was replaced by the flatter, wider "flat radiator" shortly after this car was produced. This vehicle thus marks the high point and at the same time the conclusion of the classic Mercedes post-war aesthetic.Technology & driving comfortDespite its classic look, this W111 offers driving comfort that is still surprising today. Thanks to power steering, disc brakes all around and the smooth-shifting 4-speed automatic transmission, the car can be moved confidently and relaxed. The heart, the 2.8 liter injection engine, runs silky smooth and powerful. There is no maintenance backlog - get in, turn the key and enjoy the summer.Key data & highlightsModel: Mercedes-Benz 280 SE/C/8 (W111)Year of construction: 1970 (first delivery 07/1968)Engine: 2.8L in-line six-cylinder (injection)Transmission: 4-speed automaticColor: Dark green 854 / leather creamCondition: Restored, appreciated 2+Registration: Austrian historical registration (currently owned since 2022)Previous ownership: German registration from 2016 to 2021Documentation: Original data card availableEquipment: Becker "Europe" radio, power steering, disc brakes, manual topIf you love the elegance of the "Big Fin" but don't want to miss out on the exclusivity of a hand-made convertible, you will find your dream car here. The W111 can be purchased by appointment (appropriate purchase interest and creditworthiness is required) can be viewed and test driven.
