Just arrived back with us at RFH Classics is this beautifully refurbished 1973 (L) MGB Roadster 1. 8 finished in the striking and ever popular colour of Primrose Yellow, complemented perfectly by a contrasting Black leather interior. This is a car we had the pleasure of supplying in June 2025 and we are delighted to welcome it back into stock once again having just taken it in part exchange. A particularly well sorted example, this Roadster combines long term family ownership, quality restoration work and a number of well chosen upgrades that make it a joy to drive and own.Prior to coming to us previously, the car had remained within the same family for nearly 40 years. During that time the owners entrusted renowned MG specialists Brown & Gammons with a major restoration programme, completed around 20 years ago at considerable expense. Following the restoration the car saw very little use, particularly after passing from mother to son some 21 years ago, which has helped preserve the excellent condition it still presents in today. As part of the improvements the car was fitted with the desirable MG RV8 front suspension to enhance handling, and more recently a set of chrome wire wheels were installed which have covered fewer than 1, 000 miles and remain in superb condition.Inside, the cabin has a very special feel thanks to a number of tasteful upgrades carried out during the restoration. The car is fitted with MGOC Club seats trimmed in Black Leather which are not only very comfortable but suit the character of the car perfectly. A wood trimmed dashboard with matching door cappings adds a touch of period luxury, while a full set of Smiths coloured gauges and dials were fitted at the time of restoration along with a complete new trim kit and carpets, all of which remain in excellent order due to the car’s limited use. Weather protection is provided by a mohair hood in excellent condition, complete with the desirable opening rear window. When the car last arrived with us we felt the overall presentation deserved to be brought up to the same standard as the mechanical condition, so we instructed our bodyshop to carry out a full exterior repaint in its original Primrose Yellow. The result is the beautifully finished example you see today, with deep gloss paintwork that really suits the MGB’s classic lines. At the same time new chrome mouldings were fitted along with a replacement front bumper, further enhancing the overall finish.Under the bonnet sits the well proven 1. 8 litre four cylinder engine, upgraded during the restoration to a lead free Ivor Searle unit and paired with the desirable overdrive gearbox operating on both third and fourth gears. A stainless steel exhaust system gives the car a crisp, purposeful note without being intrusive. When the car arrived back with us it was again fully checked over, serviced and MOT tested, and it continues to drive exactly as a well sorted MGB should. In the office we have catalogued the car’s extensive history into one of our presentation folders, with invoices, restoration records and MOT certificates all arranged in date order. The history, together with the quality of the restoration and the improvements carried out over the years, make this a particularly attractive example and one that is ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian.RFH Classics are proud to be Bedfordshire’s largest independent classic car dealer, with over 35 years of experience supplying quality vehicles you can buy with confidence.
