Seller's comments about 1970' MG Mgb Gt

MGB GT Coupe 1970 reg. no. YVK 767J current mileage 37500

This car was purchased as my COVID lockdown project. I guessed that we were going to be locked away for some time and I needed something to keep me occupied. When I first found this car it looked in reasonable condition, although previous MOT stated corrosion was eating the body away. Once I stared removing wings and panels I found how bad the corrosion was. I stripped everything out of the car and sent it to a specialist company to have the complete body / chassis shot blasted. Once complete I went about the task of replacing the damaged panels and repairing corroded areas. The car now has new wings, door skins, floor panels, boot floor, inner and outer sills, etc. The car was then sent away for powder coating, so all of the new metal is now protected for years to come. The car body was then sent to an auto painters for body preparation, primer and top coat.

The engine as been dissembled, cleaned and inspected. New +040 piston rings fitted, the valves have been reground, new gaskets, oil filters etc. The carburettors have been soda cleaned and rebuilt. The clutch showed some signs of wear, so was replaced along with the thrust bearing. The engine is was already fitted with electronic ignition and Kent camshaft.

Front and rear screens have new rubber seals.

A new wiring loom has been installed.

New copper brake pipes fitted along with some new wheel slave cylinders. A new petrol tank and new fuel pump has been installed.

A new head lining has been installed along with new front seat covers and some carpets. Generally the interior trim is in good condition.

There is a large file of invoices, past MOTs and previous works undertaken.

Even though this is an opportunity to purchase a good solid, rust free body with good paint and finishes, it is not presented as a concourse car, I am sure there are little jobs that a new owner will want to do. Hence it is priced competitively at £9, 000
