Seller's comments about 1947' MG TC

Chassis Number TC2561
Engine Number C65041
The MG story is well known but the drivability, durability and ease of maintenance of these wonderful cars is underestimated by most. This particular car has been enjoyed on the fast and windy country roads around Hampshire, in particular around the Goodwood estate, by its current owner since early 2015, but the time has now come to hand over custodianship. In this time daily inspection and basic maintenance has been completed by the owner with mechanical elements completed by local experts. Invoices for the period support this but also a small number of improvements, most notable being fitment of Blockley three stud tyres giving exactly the right feel and grip for the chassis, a new stainless steel master brake cylinder, purely for safety, and a new radiator. The brake system was also fettled under supervision of vintage racing mechanic, to give performance required for modern traffic conditions.
YVL885 was issued to the car by the DVLA in September 2014, restoration started in 2011. A full photographic record of the car’s disassembly after purchase (as a part body restoration only) through to completion was kept along with a list of all works. At the time of purchase by the current owner it was suggested the previous owner, a collector of MG’s, assembled the car after professional restoration of the parts.
For reliability and safety, a small number of non-original but acceptable changes were made during the restoration. These include modern hose clamps on higher pressure water hoses, discreet telescopic shock absorbers on the rear, modern type battery with cockpit charging/ power point and modern rear indicators with audible reminder.
While the vehicle has only been driven in dry weather and kept in a heated and dehumidified garage it has been driven regularly and will benefit from a small number of improvements such as a couple of paint scratches and rectification of a small oil leak and a really good under body clean. Other than that, she is perfect.
Included in the sale is the usual side screens and tonneau cover in matching tan canvas, set of road spares such as hoses and belt, a reproduction service manual, a few other small service parts and a C-Tek battery charger.
A beautiful addition to the car’s equipment is an original Desmo art nouveau flying nymph mascot which is period correct having been manufactured in the 30’s and 40’s. This one had been in the current owner’s possession since his twenties when he acquired it along with an MG Magnet. Perfect to then fit it to a MG TC fifty years later!

The car can be viewed in Emsworth, Hampshire and serious buyers invited to test drive in dry conditions by arrangement.
