I bought my Ex USA LHD 1953 MG TD2, which was made in July of that year, from Steve Baker back in March 1992. A plaque on the dash said it had been entered in the 1953 Lockheed 24 hour rally.
In Feb 1994 the cylinder head was modified to take unleaded petrol by George Edney. Inserts were fitted along with larger TF valves and at the same time it was lightly gas flowed. It was found that the head had already been skimmed, presumably for the rally in the USA.
In mid 1996 it was converted RHD and at the same time a stainless steel exhaust system was fitted.
Around March 2004 the remainder of the engine was reconditioned by George. It was bored out by 100 thou, the crankshaft reground, and a fast road camshaft fitted. The rear oil seal was rebuilt. Compression ratio is now about 9.25 to 1.
A new dynamo was fitted in July 2005.
This year the braking system was overhauled using new wheel and master cylinders. Also the ignition system was refurbished with a new coil, new distributor cap and leads, rotor arm, condenser and points.

My MG is for sale due to ill health. It is in good presentable, useable condition albeit the interior is a little tired.
