1949 Morris Minor Lowlight Saloon – A Rare Piece of Motoring HistoryNot only is this 1949 Minor Lowlight Saloon a stunning car to behold, but her history also makes her truly special — directly linked to the production of the Morris Minor itself.Originally produced for the home market in 1949, she was sold through Morris Garages Ltd of Oxford to the chief designer at Nuffield Pressed Steel Co. Ltd., for his housekeeper. Nuffield was the company responsible for pressing panels for Morris Motors, and it is believed that her first owner, William Maton, was directly involved in the car’s early design process (when the project was still known as the “Mosquito” pre-war). A detailed history file, including the original buff logbook, receipts, and MOT records, accompanies the car.Condition & BodyworkThe Lowlight’s bodywork is solid throughout, with paintwork that still carries a lovely shine. There are a few minor blemishes, but overall, she presents very well. Chrome, trims, and rubbers are all in good order. Structurally, she is excellent — with all the usual trouble spots already taken care of during her restoration, fully documented with photographs.MechanicalPowered by the original 918cc side-valve engine, she runs smoothly, ticks over nicely, and pulls well.
