It was heavily styled, with a large chrome grille, generous wings at the extremities of widened tracks, and large-diameter headlamps. The J72 caught the eye of the mainstream press hungry for sensation. The car made the front cover of several magazines unrelated to motoring and became the symbol of affluent, trendy England. A few showbusiness celebrities acquired one, which helped reinforce its image. Freddie Mercury, for example, had no qualms about projecting his flamboyant image behind the wheel of a pearl-white J72.By offering top-quality trim (elm burl, Connolly leather, Wilton carpet, etc.) and assembly standards, Jankel had nothing to feel inferior about when compared to the most established marques. Obviously, there was no question of fibreglass bodywork. The J72 was clothed in hand-beaten aluminium. It was expensive, more than twice the price of a Jaguar E-Type, and nearly three times that of a Morgan Plus 8.In total, Panther manufactured 380 examples of the J72 (368 or 382 according to other sources) until 1982, with the 6-cylinder XK 3. 8 (only on the earliest cars) and 4. 2 L, or the 5. 3 L V12."Original documents, sales invoice, order form, certificate of conformity availableFrench classic registration documentMOT passedViewable by appointment onlyDelivery available throughout FranceREF 2512
