A history of 'GI Jane'.

The paper work states 1941 Silverstreak, Pontiac 6, 2 door Staff car.
Served Fairfield- Suisun airfield California.
Later renamed Travis Airbase.
As a 2 door it is believed to have been the Commanding officers personal transport for duties on the airfield.
Brigadier General Robert F Travis was a highly decorated officer at the airfield also flying 35 missions from England aboard B17s and it is highly likey he would have used 'GI Jane' at some point.
Robert Travis was tragically killed in August 1950 when the B29 he was on board crashed on take off.
The air base was officially renamed Travis AFB April 1951 in his memory.
'GI Jane' was placed into the Travis air Base Museum , avoiding the fate of many staff cars that were sent to crusher, to regenerate the motor industry.
Imported to the UK by Jeep ltd London early 2000 when museum thinned their collection
Made a static appearance during filming in Band of Brothers hence wearing 101st airborne markings.
