Seller's comments about 1939' Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Wraith
1939 ROLLS ROYCE WRAITH by H.J.MULLINER 4 DOOR RAZOR SPORTS LIMO SALOON
This imperious six light with division razor body 5 seater Rolls is finished in dark blue with grey leather trim and carpets, walnut dash and fittings. Numbers are matching and the original registration number and number plates still adorn this unmolested Rolls. The vehicle has covered 59,000 miles from new with supporting evidence.
Fitted with the desirable 4.25ltr 6 cylinder 30hp engine number F6W.S with manual gears, Chassis number WHC17 ordered with Dunlop 6.50 x 17” wheels/tyres, lighting set, special headlights (P100), wing lamps, rear lamps, inspection lamp, spare bulbs, 2 toolkits, flush type damp light/switch, fog caps, interior w/wiper, special heater, side mounted spare wheel, fog lights, wing mirrors, badges, outside horns, auto closing grille, opening bonnet vents, one shot lube chassis, servo brakes/anti-locking device, auto/manual ride control, independent front suspension, built in jacking system plus many other special features.
Commissioned in 1939 in chassis format and taken to H J Mulliner of Chiswick, London where the Sports razor Limo body was produced and fitted. The car was registered in 1940 to Batchelor Peas Ltd, following which the car was owned by the famous radio/TV presenter and actor, Wilfred Pickles (What’s on the table, Mabel). The car was purchased in 1962 by the Hon Secretary Donald Douglas Burness-Smith of the RREC Essex section and was sold recently due to his demise and so in his ownership for 55 years.
History folder includes; original buff logbook, previous/current V5, DVLA/MoT paperwork, MoT certs from 1962, Rolls build sheet and original receipt, newspaper articles, photo of Wilfred and Mabel Pickles with the car dated 1949, events photos, BBC news clipping, radio book, AA book, leather holdall, mileage and petrol logs over 100 sheets, RREC paperwork, correspondence, tax discs from 1965 and invoices. This vehicle is in totally original and excellent condition throughout, having had a repaint only in 1990. These pre-WWII Rolls Royce’s were manufactured for two years and this is one of the rarest R/R chassis bodies made. 491 were built and each one was fitted with a different Coachbuilder’s body of which there were many styles and makers. This original semi- razor edge body by HJ Mulliner has a disappearing electrical division and this actual car appeared in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977. This is indeed a rare opportunity to own an ex-celebrity owned RR with a comprehensive history folder several inches deep. £69995
