Seller's comments about 1938' Rover P2 20Hp Sports Saloon

1938 Rover P2 20hp Sports Saloon. 4 light. (Registered 1937).
There were only 641 Rover P2 20hp Sportsman Saloon cars built between 1937 and 1940. The Second World War put a stop to P2 car production and it was not resumed until after the War when only 10hp 12hp 14hp & 16hp Rover P2 models were made.
Records show there are just 13 Rover P2 20hp Sports Saloon (4 light) models left worldwide with 10 in the UK and possibly just 4 or 5 running on UK roads.
So it is a rare Rover but parts availability and technical support is excellent.
The car was rescued by the 4th custodian from a garage in 1996 and completely rebuilt.
The 5th custodian commissioned a second restoration including a new interior, which alone cost £10k due to the quality of the leather and standard of the workmanship.
The engine and gearbox were rebuilt during the first two restorations.
The suspension is fitted with the Luvax lubrication system, which is working.
I am the 6th custodian and have extensively improved ELD 428 since 2016 including:
The shock absorbers rebuilt by Stevson and a front anti roll bar fitted.
The prop shaft & rear axle completely rebuilt and new oil seals fitted.
The carburetor completely refurbished and rebuilt by ‘Burlen’.
The distributor rebuilt by the ‘Distributor Doctor’ and electronic ignition fitted.
The fuel tank flushed, cleaned and sealed with ‘Slosh’ paint by Rust Buster.
New fuel lines, glass fuel filters and new electric fuel pump installed.
New tyres and inner tubes obtained from ‘Vintage Tyres’ and the wire wheels repainted to match the colour of the car, which is Admiralty Blue.
Both front and rear bumpers have been completely rebuilt.
The cars performance allows it to easily cope with modern traffic conditions and it will cruise comfortably at 55 mph.
It has been very successful at car shows and rallies winning several awards including Roverfest 2017 where it won the ‘Best Rover Overall Award’.
The awards will stay with the car.
There are also a number of additional parts that are included in the sale.
With the improvements made the car is reliable and it handles well.

If you wish to purchase this car and require further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
Near offers are invited but given the rarity and condition of the car please be aware that I am in no hurry to sell.
