The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is the base variant of the 40 series, produced from model years 1961 to 1984 in Japan and until 1985 in Venezuela. The FJ40 is the model that made Toyota widely known. Today it is a classic 4x4 that is a favorite of off-road enthusiasts and collectors alike, competing head-to-head with the Land Rover Series, Defender, Ford Bronco and International Scout. Equipped with a gas-powered Toyota F engine until 1974 (pre-facelift) and a Toyota 2F engine until 1985 (post-facelift), the model received only minor body and mechanical modifications over the years of production. It is worth noting that the US specification models that were sold until 1983 received additional features and features that make them more attractive than vehicles destined for other markets.

Engine The 4.2-litre in-line 6-cylinder 2F engine sends power to the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case.
The Toyota FJ40 is an off-roader that has earned its reputation for hard work in the mud and desert. In 1951, Toyota developed a prototype based on the best solutions that Jeep and Land Rover had to offer. Production of Toyota Jeep BJ started in 1953, and initially the cars were intended for military purposes. In 1954, after protests by Willys over the Jeep name, the civilian versions were named the Land Cruiser and quickly gained respect among those who used them to tear through rough terrain.
In 1960, the FJ40 generation appeared with a new body, suspension and engine versions. The FJ40 was produced for 24 years and over time gained a reputation as an extremely durable car. He served in the hands of soldiers in the most inaccessible places of the earth. To this day, hundreds of thousands of FJ40s can be found on all continents.
