A warm greeting from Salzburg! “Porsche 911 Turbo – superlative on wheels” is the title of the brochure from 1979. And the text continues: “But the Turbo is not a sophisticated sports instrument with which you can only drive uncompromisingly fast and nothing more: It is precisely in its unrestricted suitability for all weather and all traffic, in its problem-free frugality ... that the top Porsche differs particularly pleasantly from the lesser ones Everyday makes with comparable performance... Despite all its technical and aesthetic exclusivity, the Turbo remains a real Porsche: robust, robust, reliable and always ready to be driven, not just admired."It's always a pleasure to go back to the year a car was born and browse through the brochures published at the time. Basically not much has changed. The body shape continues to be an appearance, especially when viewed from the rear. The performance is completely sufficient and so is the reliability. Once you've enjoyed the turbo boost, it's hard to get rid of it. This brutal, abrupt power delivery and the accompanying soundscape are simply addictive. One wonders - rightly - how effortlessly the turbocharger transforms the previously calm-looking boxer into an impetuous powerhouse. Take a deep breath. With a turbo you can also discover slowness. Lonely country roads and winding mountain roads are also his. Of course, always with the thought in mind that when I need performance, it will be there. That's reassuring. What's also reassuring is that a lot has been done to this example, both technically and visually, in recent years. Starting with the overhaul of the entire chassis, the brakes and the complete injection system, through to fresh service, new valve cover gaskets, fuel pump and pressure accumulator. Repainting the body in the original color gives the Turbo a fresh appearance. In any case, no expense was spared in terms of commitment and costs. Please take a look at the numerous photos of the current condition. The interior is in its original condition (black leather); the sports seats provide additional lateral support. The air conditioning system and hoses were removed and put aside. A sensible decision if regular use is not planned. With a current Austrian individual permit, it is ready for new voyages of discovery.
