Seller's comments about 1974' Triumph GT6
We are delighted to welcome this superb 1974 Triumph GT6 Mk3 to The Forge.Finished in what we believe to be Jasmine Yellow, complemented by a set of black Minilite-style wheels and retaining its original interior, this GT6 is an exceptionally smart and striking example. Clean, tidy and appealing from every angle, it is a genuine head-turner with the classic sporting character that makes the GT6 such a desirable Triumph.Importantly, the car has benefited from nearly £10, 000 of recommissioning work at Malton Coachworks during April and May 2026. Having seen minimal use since its restoration, this extensive work has ensured the GT6 is now in excellent mechanical order and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.Unfortunately, the car's earlier history is limited, as the existing history file has been mislaid. We are informed, however, that the GT6 was subject to a restoration within the last ten years. This is understood to have included a full strip-down and repaint, rebuilding of the engine and gearbox, rebuilding of the carburettors and fuel system, together with an interior freshen-up.We have also ordered a British Motor Museum Heritage Certificate, which we will add to the history file and update this listing with once it arrives. The extensive work carried out by Malton Coachworks earlier this year was focused on ensuring the car was mechanically sound, reliable and ready for use.May 2026 — £1, 577. 02Work included removing and refitting the driver's seat, centre console, front carpets and glovebox to gain access to the speedometer, fitting a new speedometer cable and rebuilding the components afterwards. The cooling system was pressure tested and a leaking heater valve identified and replaced, with the coolant topped up.A leaking fuel lift pump was also investigated after being identified when the car was parked on a downward slope. The pump was found to have a split top seal and was replaced along with the relevant pipe fittings. The car was subsequently road tested.April 2026 — £1, 800. 23Work included investigating and rectifying a grinding noise from the steering column, addressing a gearbox leak, fitting a new speedometer cable drive, input oil seal and O-ring, and replacing and correctly adjusting the alternator belt.Rear driveshaft bushes and shock absorbers were also replaced, and the braking system was bled.April 2026 — £4, 962. 94A comprehensive vehicle health check was carried out, including assessment of rubber hoses and boots. The twin carburettors were removed, ultrasonically cleaned, assessed and rebuilt before being balanced and the ignition timing adjusted. Carburettor linkages were investigated and replaced where required.Further work included fitting a new high-quality condenser and manufacturing a mounting bracket, checking the ignition system, inspecting the distributor cap and leads, and rectifying an intermittent hazard light fault. The engine oil and filters were changed, the cooling system flushed and refilled, and a full brake service carried out. Brake pistons were stripped, inspected and rebuilt. The fuel system was drained and inspected, with the fuel tank found to be in good condition. The fuel pump was removed and tested, the filter cleaned, and the fuel lines to the filter replaced. A fuel pressure regulator was also mounted. Finally, the gearbox and differential oils were changed. The result is a particularly appealing GT6 Mk3 that presents extremely well. The chassis and bodywork are strong, the paintwork is very good, and the underside is exceptionally clean. The engine bay is equally impressive, while the original interior retains the character and charm you would expect from this iconic British sports car.Out on the road, the GT6 is a thoroughly enjoyable car. It handles very well, with strong acceleration and braking, a correctly functioning overdrive and, of course, the fantastic soundtrack from its six-cylinder engine. The combination of its striking Jasmine Yellow colour scheme, black wheels, original interior and extensive recent recommissioning makes this a GT6 that is ready to be driven and enjoyed.A superb opportunity to acquire an iconic Triumph sports car that combines genuine period character with the reassurance of significant recent mechanical expenditure.MOT History On File:2026 : 45, 937 miles (14. 07. 2027)2026 : 45, 848 miles2021 : 45, 154 miles2019 : 45, 088 miles2018 : 44, 786 miles2017 : 43, 634 miles2016 : 43, 610 miles2015 : 43, 577 miles2014 : 43, 551 miles2013 : 43, 534 miles2012 : 43, 493 miles2011 : 43, 322 miles2010 : 43, 186 miles2009 : 42, 869 miles2009 : 42, 812 milesDocuments Included With Sale:V5C, Heritage Certificate, Owners Manual, Recent Invoices, Recent MOT CertificatesInvoices On File:15. 07. 2026 : £493. 40 - Malton Coachworks12. 05. 2026 : £1, 577. 02 - Malton Coachworks05. 05. 2026 : £96. 00 - Malton Coachworks15. 04. 2026 : £1, 800. 23 - Malton Coachworks07. 04. 2026 : £4, 962. 94 - Malton Coachworks07. 04. 2026 : £257. 40 - Malton Coachworks
