Seller's comments about 1954' Wolseley 6/80

1954 Wolseley 6/ 80 Saloon

The 'six eighty' was the Flagship for discerning buyers who wanted British traditional style, but with cutting edge engineering. The formula was a great success for Wolseley and was the longest ever running favourite of Police forces well into the 1960s.  Even today they are recognised as the iconic period British police car!

Even though it is now almost 70 years old, she runs and drives very well. The 2. 2L inline 6 cylinder engine is smooth & starts up instantly and the 4 speed gearbox goes through all the gears as it should. The brakes work well although the pedal does feel a little spongy.

Over the years its had a few modifications to make it a little easier to drive, this includes electronic ignition, an electric fan for backup on hot days and a full electric power steering conversion which is worth its weight in gold

Everything works on the car, all the lights, fog lights, horn, trafficators etc. It is also fitted with modern indicators under the rear bumper so that its more visible and also has a removable tow bar should you wish to tow a small trailer

Bodywork is in great condition for its age, finished in Black. Originally I believe it was Dark green. It does have a few touch up and scratches here and there but importantly has no body damage or rust. Door bottoms, bootlid, bonnet are all free from any rust. The underside is also very solid and without any rust issues which is amazing for a car of this age. All brightwork intact and no trim missing

The interior is all complete and in good overall condition, the back seat is in good shape but the front seats could do with a retrim hence the covers! The headliner is good as are all four door cards. The wood in this example is also in great shape

Comes complete with spare tyre, wheel brace, starting handle and jack

As for things it needs, the paintwork on the bootlid and one side of the bonnet is starting to crack up so that could do with being repainted, theres also an oil leak to fix as with most British classics :)
