Verkäuferkommentare zu 1933' Riley Lynx

One of the prettiest small sporting Tourers the Riley Nine, when introduced in 1926, "marked a real advance in touring car design", so said that legendary motoring Historian, John Stanford. And he was right. Although the 4-cylinder engine was of only 1100cc capacity, it possessed performance which was equal to many cars in the 2-litre class of the period. It really was in many ways the forerunner of high efficiency small cars of the future decades.

Indeed, the Nine remained a lynchpin of the Riley model range, changing very little in essence, for the next decade. With the masterly input of World Land Speed Record holder, J.G. Parry Thomas, the Nine was developed (as the Brooklands Model) into a formidable competition car and this racing experience helped to maintain the Nine's position at the top of its category and to make it such a popular and versatile car.

The car offered here carries the most attractive factory Lynx 4-seater tourer coachwork incorporating the ingenious disappearing hood and only ran from late 1932 until September 1933. This allowed the smooth lines of the car to remain unfettered by fabric and frame once the hood is stowed.

APC81 has been the subject of an excellent older restoration which has aged well and allowed the car to remain in virtual constant use ever since. Carrying a delightful well-loved and lived in character, like one's favourite armchair, it has seen use in numerous local vintage road runs and rallies. It has also been an invited airside exhibit alongside the Spitfires, Hurricanes, and other stars of the legendary Goodwood Revival for the past 5 or so years.

With a recent top end overhaul by marque expert Keith Pointing, this delightfully honest and attractive example of the Lynx model should continue to provide practical and reliable pre-war transport for another eight decades for all manner of vintage events and road trips.
